Leather or Synthetic

When choosing a shoe for work you should consider a couple of different things. Firstly how long will you spend on your feet during the day? If you are a nurse then the amount for miles you cover in one shift will be astronomical but if you work in an office then maybe you spend a bit more time in a chair rather than on your feet. Believe it or not it isn’t the standing all day that give you foot pain its wearing the wrong type of shoes.

When choosing a smart shoes for your workplace you will have loads of styles to choose from but one thing you may not have considered is whether to go for synthetically made materials or leather. We have done some research so you can get what suits you best. Both materials have their pros and cons.


Leather is highly durable and extremely flexible. It is made from animal skin and more often that not it is made from cattle. Leather can be decorated and can be made into a wide range of sizes, styles and types. Leather is great for in door work but it is also waterproof making it good for outdoors too. So if you are in the office leather can be comfortable but if you are on a building site it can offer durability. Leather cleans really easily but it is a lot heavier than other synthetic materials.

Synthetic Materials

Synthetic materials are made from made-made materials rather than materials which are naturally sourced. These can include Kevlar, Lastex, Orlon. Spandex, Acrylic, Acetate, Polyester and nylon. Synthetic materials are a lot lighter than their leather counter parts. They are also breathable which means if you do a lot of moving around then synthetically made shoes will help keep your feet cooler. Synthetically made footwear can also be waterproof, wrinkle free, softer and strain resistant so they are a lot more versatile than leather shoes.


Now you have the information you need it is up to you. Depending on your occupation you can see then benefits of both materials. If you work in construction or are in a job that require a lot of movement then maybe synthetic materials are better suited where as if you are looking for something with a bit more style then a leather shoe is probably what you are after.
